Pye-Barker Acquires Union AlarmTronic to Expand New Jersey Security Operations

Written by Paul Giannamore

The transaction adds a long-established security provider and a substantial installed base to Pye-Barker’s growing fire protection, life-safety and security platform

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety announced its acquisition of Union AlarmTronic LLC, a Springfield, New Jersey-based security systems provider. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 1989, Union AlarmTronic has completed more than 20,000 security installations. The company provides access control, video surveillance, intercom, integrated security and alarm systems. Owner Fred Rosenfeld entered the industry with his father, Len Rosenfeld, and has led the company as it built a longstanding presence in New Jersey.

Pye-Barker said Union AlarmTronic’s technicians will continue serving customers in New Jersey. The combination also gives Union AlarmTronic customers access to Pye-Barker’s broader fire protection and life safety capabilities.

What Union AlarmTronic Adds

For Pye-Barker, the acquisition adds local security expertise, technicians and customer relationships in a market where the buyer already has a growing presence. Union AlarmTronic’s capabilities sit beside Pye-Barker’s fire protection and life safety services, creating a practical opportunity to serve more of a customer’s building protection needs through one platform.

The reported installation history is also strategically relevant. An installed base can support durable customer relationships and future service opportunities, although the public announcement does not disclose Union AlarmTronic’s recurring-revenue mix, customer retention or financial performance. Those details would be necessary before drawing conclusions about valuation.

Pye-Barker describes itself as the largest fully integrated fire protection, life safety and security services provider in the U.S., with more than 250 locations and about 9,000 employees. It completed 57 acquisitions in 2025, more than one a week, and now operates in about 47 states. The company is backed by Altas Partners and Leonard Green & Partners; affiliates of ADIA and GIC took minority stakes in January 2025.

Potomac Perspective

This transaction illustrates buyer-specific value in the fire protection and security market. Union AlarmTronic brings more than a list of customers or a record of completed installations. To Pye-Barker, it adds security capabilities and local operating depth that fit an existing nationwide platform and a stated strategy of expanding integrated fire protection, life safety and security services.

That strategic fit matters because buyers do not value every business in the same way. A company can be worth more to an acquirer that already operates nearby, needs its technical capabilities or can offer additional services to its customers. The same company may offer less strategic value to a buyer without that footprint or service adjacency.

For owners considering a sale, the lesson is to understand which buyers can create the most value from the business and why. In this sector, the discussion commonly turns on recurring inspection and monitoring revenue, customer retention, service and project mix, technician depth, licenses, territory density and the quality of the installed base. Presenting those attributes in the context of each buyer’s strategy is central to creating competition and protecting value in a sale process.
