The addition of Mosquito Control Services, one of the largest vector control companies in the US, bolsters Rentokil Steritech’s leading global position in vector disease control
The Potomac Company today announced the acquisition of its client, private equity-owned Mosquito Control Services (“MCS”), based in Metairie, LA, by Rentokil Steritech. The transaction closed in late 2018.
Mosquito Control Services is one of the largest vector control companies in the United States, operating out of ten offices in five Southeastern US states. By merging MCS’s operations with its current vector control platform – Vector Disease Control International (VDCI) – Rentokil Steritech is now the leading global service provider in the fight against Zika virus, Dengue fever, West Nile virus and other vector-borne diseases.
Mosquito Control Services was acquired in 2014 by Scott Capital, a middle-market private equity firm, from its founders. Under the leadership of President Steve Pavlovich and COO Sam Stines, MCS has grown to be one of the leading government mosquito control contractors in the United States.
“We are excited to add Mosquito Control Services and its staff expertise to our expanding vector control business,” said John Myers, President and CEO of Rentokil North America, the parent company of Rentokil Steritech. “As climate change continues to ripple across the environment, vector-borne diseases are increasing threats in North America. We are proud to have MCS join our team to be part of protecting the health and welfare of our customers and the public at large.”
“In contemplating the future of our company, the combination of Mosquito Control Services with VDCI was a tremendous opportunity for synergistic development and innovative growth in the vector segment,” commented Steve Pavlovich, President of Mosquito Control Services. “Our team is very excited about the opportunities that the integration of MCS and VDCI under Rentokil will create for our people, our customers, and our industry. Rentokil’s national footprint and global resources give the combined vector division the ability to reach a broader market while providing our clients unparalleled, science-based service on the forefront of technology.”
On working with Potomac, Pavlovich stated: “The Potomac Company and specifically, Paul Giannamore, was extraordinary. His unsurpassed knowledge of the pest control and vector control landscape was invaluable to us. The professionalism and M&A expertise of Paul and his team was evident throughout at each and every phase of the Mosquito Control Services transaction process. His guidance and expertise were imperative for Mosquito Control Services and getting this transaction done with a great acquirer.”
Paul Giannamore, Managing Director of the Potomac Company’s Pest Control Group, commented: “Having advised on the Rentokil North America’s acquisition of VDCI the prior year, I was able to get a front row seat into how the company has developed its vector control platform. The addition of MCS to VDCI makes Rentokil Steritech the undisputed global leader in the fight against vector-borne disease. Steve and his team at MCS have robust managerial capabilities, which will bring additional proficiency and insight to the team. Rentokil Steritech truly has the opportunity to own this space globally and I am excited to see what lies ahead for the business.”
The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
