“Never In My Wildest Dreams”: David Clark’s POTOMAC Experience

You know everybody thinks oh, you got to check it’s easy. You know what’s the problem? You spent your whole life doing something, now all of a sudden, you don’t have it anymore. The legacy, my dad left, what was I gonna do without taking it to the next level? How difficult was it gonna be for my children to take it to the next level?

I’ll be 60 this year so it’s time to enjoy. I’ve been working really hard for a really long time.

Best advice that I got was a guy Andy told me. He said look, you got to find somebody in the industry that knows all the players in the market and that can get you the highest number he can. He said that’s what you’ve got to do.

That’s how I ended up with Paul. He ended up being the choice that I made and I think it was a good choice, even though he does have a Mexican. That’s right.

What are some of the things you look forward to doing? Traveling. You know all these guys that I know that have building companies, you know they go to Europe for a month and do all this. I could never afford to do that. Now I can.

I can go do that. And not only that, but you know, generational money for your children, your grandchildren, and your great grandchildren who you may never meet. You know, hopefully there’ll be something for them. That’s a legacy. Yeah, that is a legacy.

Paul’s not going to make the decision for you. It’s still your decision to make. He’s just going to lay it out there and tell you this is what it is, and you can take it or you can go back to work, whichever you want to do. But they got in between my numbers, so I decided it was time to go.

No way I ever thought that I’d get to where I’m at. No way. Not my wildest dreams. Sorry. Oh that’s great, that’s good. But it’s true. Never in my wildest dreams ever thought that I’d be where I’m at, because I was trying to get out. But you know, God had different plans for me. So here I am. And it was a good plan.

Find somebody that can help you through the process, like Paul, to help you come up with and you know be there to support you. I had, you know, my wife and my family, and you know I had them all there. And that’s where Paul comes in, because he knows exactly what’s going on. And you need somebody like that in your corner.

You’ve been treating me great, man. We went out, had a little pizza last night. Now we’re gonna go enjoy the beach and a little time at the country club. And it sounds like it’s going to be fun. I’ve got to learn how to do all this stuff.

We have a good industry. Pest control industry is a good industry. Good industry to be involved in.
